Interesting take on intention and audience in writing. I think this view may be limited to certain kinds of writing --at least in my opinion. I write a fair amount of legal content for clients and in that world, knowing your audience is extremely important. I am not so sure it is that important in poetry or prose. In poetry, it can be deadly to the poet to try to write for their audience. In my experience, that can lock the poet into being a "good" poet rather that writing something that is relateable or that moves the reader.
