Temerity Has No Place

Image by Lucas Wendt from Pixabay

wind shows leaves how to fall
tutelage inscribed on brick and bark
in equal distribution
upon unseen maps

a brutal severing
though poets like to romanticize it
as quickened veins cease

a leaf must fall somewhere
and wind, its calculations
driven by the micro-economy of death,
severs in sweetness
