This whole stanza --for me this is the heart of the poem--really lovely work Natalie!

Hibakusha
The pattern of my kimono burned into my skin still lingers.
I feel it in the last frosts of spring.
I remember the rice I ate,
and the flash of light.
We tipped our heads up and
drank the black rain falling like tar to the ground.
Last Frost, Rice Seedlings Grow
